Dry ice is the -79.8 centigrade solid type material that is made by cooling and compress the Liquid Carbon Dioxide. This is directly evaporated to gas without liquid stage and this procedure require the high energy, so the surrounding materials loose their heat and become cool. The cooling power of this is 152kcal per 1kg when 0 centigrade and the CO2 which is generated in evaporation process prevent the diffusion of a bacteria or germ, in other word, this can do a sterilizing or disinfection action.

Besides the usage for refrigeration, big amount of Dry ice is used in manufacturing process of sodium carbonate. And it is used for Sodas, a digestive, welding, a casting. The benefit of Dry ice in terms of cooler is that it is easy to treat because it is directly evaporated without liquid stage.

And there is no danger to be fired like a Liquid-Oxygen. Also it can cool something to -80 centigrade if grinding and mixed with alcohol, ether, and acetone. When you treat Dry ice, you should wear groves to avoid being frostbite.
